About Nefabit
Nefabit began her dance journey as soon as she could walk and doesn't remember a time in her life when she didn't dance. She began her formal training with ballet and bellydance around the age of three. When she was six years old she hit the stage for the first time with a flamenco-influenced ballet piece at the Bing Crosby Theatre. From that moment, she knew that she was meant to be a professional dancer, and has pursued that goal her whole life, studying bellydance, ballet, Irish step, flamenco and more. In addition to her regular classes, she has travelled extensively taking workshops and intensives with star dancers, including the Maui Tribal Intensive and the Bellydance Superstars Intensive in France.
In 2001 Nefabit and her mother Delilah founded the seeds of the Mystik Dream Dance Company, which began as a performance duo and over the years expanded into a thriving troupe. The troupe has seen many incarnations and members over its lifespan, due in part to her father's military career and was based in Alabama, Hawaii and finally Spokane. They have settled permenatly here wich has allowed the company to flourish and stabalize. Over the years Nefabit has also become a sought-after soloist dancing in events from private parties and restaurants to shows, galas and parades. In the Summer of 2007 she was hired as house dancer a Azars Greek Restaurant where she works every 1st and 3rd Friday. In early 2011 she was invited to become a member of Koreshakti Tribal Fusion, where she was happy to expand her knowledge of Tribal Fusion, and she performed in dozens of shows with the company, including Abney Park's concert in April 2011.
Nefabit's greatest joy now is passing on her love and knowledge of dance to ohers. At the age of twelve, she began teaching her friends for fun, and discovered she not only enjoyed it, but excelled at it. She began working as a teachers assistant to her mother's classes, and at fifteen started teaching on her own. After teaching at several studios in the area, in 2009 she decided to take her teaching a step further, and with the help of her family she opened the Mystik Dream Dance Academy. Since it's opening the studio has continued to grow and thrive, and now happily supports two dance companies and over 15 hours of classes and rehearsals a week. She excited for plans to further rennovate the studio, as well as add more classes to the roster.
Nefabit is happily a full time teacher and performer and is thankful for the support her family has given her over the years both emotionally and practically. At just 20 years old she is greatful to have such a solid career established. She is contemplating attending college to expand her knowledge of dance, theatre, choreography, teaching, dance medicine and language.
