In this class, students are taught Classical bellydance technique, focusing heavily on proper carriage and alignment, proficient muscle execution and artistry. Students are first introduced to the basic posture, theory and isolations of bellydance, drill for muscle memory and begin conditioning the body to perform the isolations easily. When students have gained a foothold in the basics they also learn a basic choreography. When a student moves to the intermediate class, we add complexity, learning layers and combinations, choreography and zill playing,  and condition the body further.  In the advanced class we train in professional skills, perfecting movements and combinations, raising stamina and strength, work with performance skills, choreographic design, improvisation, flexibility, floorwork, dancing with props and more.
we move technique to a professional level and work heavily on concepts of creating choreography, stage presence, presentation and more, in addition to drilling difficult combinations, layers, transitions and choreography.

About Certification:
Certification is offered, but not required. Students who wish to become certified are expected to do extra study. It is not meant to be an across the board "bellydance" certification, but rather a symbol of mastering all basic knowledge set out in my curriculum of classical bellydance which I expect from a level 1, 2 or 3 dancer. Bellydance is like a diamond, composed of endless facets of knowledge and an incredible variety of styles. I do not believe in compressing all of this into an end all certification but I DO believe in setting forth a set of requirements by each studio. My certification is not easy, and will require time, dedication and passion for this art form.

About Classical Bellydance - a "nutshell" history by Nefabit
Classical bellydance refers to the style of dance from the "Golden Era" of bellydance in Egypt around the turn of the centruy that had been influenced by western culture, ballet and Hollywood. When British and French forces occupied much of the middle east in the 1800s and 1900s, they brought with them a very orientalist view of the middle east laden with harem girls and glimmering costumes that conflicted heavily with the reality of dark assuit beladi dresses and heavy, earthy moves. Night club and restaurant owners brought in entertainment for the western soldiers, and decided that they needed to see what they expected, and so hired beautiful girls to dance and wear glittering costumes influenced by the nouveau Hollywood glamour and airy ballet. Now, it is a relatively new style of dance embraced around the world and has become an entity onto itself, seperate from the ethnic dance from which it was born. As high heels, exposed bellies, chiffon veils and beaded costumes have almost nothing to do with Arabic culture, classical bellydance is not to be confused with Middle Eastern folkloric dance. It is truly a dance born of both the East and the West.
